New Outfit

I finally finished the little romper and blouse. The bonnet, another story. Way to big. So going to sit down and do some adjustments and hopefully Autumn Rose has a cute little bonnet.

I also decided to try outside photography as well with some of these pictures. It was a beautiful sunny day here so I took advantage of it.

Autumn Rose

I would like to announce Autumn Rose has been Reborn ~~~~~

Autumn Rose
September 18th, 2014
8:43 P.M.
5 lbs. 10 oz.
20" Long

She is my 3rd Reborn and have learned so much. She has many, many layers of Genesis Heat Set Paints and hopefully I have my oven issue worked out. I have not had a chance to fully test the new oven out but keeping fingers crossed that this one works and does not shine the vinyl because the temp got too hot.

I am hoping to get started on wardrobes for my babies real soon.

Here she is:

Rooting Is Done!

Autumn Rose's Rooting is Complete! Her eyelashes are done as well. Just waiting for the sealant inside her head to dry. Will be adding some gloss to her lips, corners of her eyes, inside her nose and inside her ears for a realistic moist look. Will also add the magnet inside her head where the mouth is so she can take her special pacifier. Then she will be ready for her first reborn photo shoot. :)

Rooting Update

So I thought I would post an update to my rooting the hair on
Sugar, who is now named Autumn Rose.
I have started the 2nd week of rooting. Like I said, I root 3-4 hours a day. This process is long, tedious but the outcome of rooting 1-2 hairs at a time is what makes this vinyl doll come to "Life"

I have one more section to do and then we are off to hand rooting the eyelashes. Then it will be sealing the hair and eyelashes so they don't fall out. Then I will add a couple of magnets to the inside for her pacifier and hair bow and then the final step is putting her all together with poly fiberfill and tiny glass beads to give her her weight.

This is the kit of Sugar before any paint or hair. This was the first step to her reborning. A nice soapy bath to begin the painting process.

Back of her head and swirl - The holes will close when I do a final heating of the head. Even though I used a warm rice sock in her head to make for easier rooting, this section was as hard as concrete to root. But I am confident with a final heating the holes will close.

Another view of the back of her head. Still have one section to go.

Sugar Sculpt by Donna RuBert

Now that I am no longer babysitting all day, every day. I have been able to work more on my Sugar sculpt by Donna RuBert.
I had wanted to do a small painting tutorial but that didn't happen. I was dealing with oven issues again. I think I have mastered the oven mystery. After researching many ovens I decided to go with the same type of oven Bountiful Baby uses - Convection. This oven looks like a good size microwave and I am able to do bigger babies. :0)

Sugar is finally done being painted with her flesh tones, mottling, veins, creases and fingernails. She is in the rooting stage. I thought I would post my progress and I am so happy to say this rooting experience is wonderful.

I am using a 43g Single Barb needle and baby brown curly mohair. I am so in love with this curly hair that I don't want to give her a hair cut when I am done. lol

I have been rooting for about a week. I usually root for about 3 hours. That is about it that my poor wrist can take with Carpal Tunnel. But I am in no hurry - Well...maybe I am in a bit of a hurry to see her all put together.

Sugar is known as a "Sleeping Baby" Her head tilts to the side. When I am finished rooting, I will be hand rooting her eyelashes as well. She does need a trim. That will happen after she is fully rooted and the hair is glued on the inside. I love her face.

Back - I think I have finally mastered the "Swirl" I am hoping when I do cut her hair, I don't lose the curl. Keeping fingers crossed.

Up close of her face and her eyebrows. Another step I am slowly learning. I think I spent over two hours getting her eyebrows just right. That has got to be the hardest and least favorite step of this whole process. I am researching and going to teach myself the art of hand rooting the eyebrows. Should be interesting.

Until next post - Happy Reborning!
