Lilly sculpt by Denise Pratt makeover is done. The reason for the makeover? She was my very first reborn and I did her with air dry paints. Within a month of making her, paint was coming off and she was getting a very dirty look to her. It seemed like the paint was attracting dirt instead of repelling; which is what the air dry varnish was supposed to do.
The mohair I chose was not of the highest quality mohair and the color was not the Honey Blonde that I was hoping for, instead it was orange. Rooting was a nightmare both times around. Rooting tips: Premium Mohair using a lower grade mohair makes horrible rooting. Meaning getting a strand of hair to root next to impossible. Heated rice sock: The vinyl for the head was rock hard and trying to root was like rooting cement. Getting the needle into the vinyl without breaking...another impossibility. So this time around I used a sock filled with rice and stuck the rice filled sock in the microwave with a mug of water for a minute and a half to 2 minutes. The mug of water keeps the rice from scorching and when the rice scorches it can smell real bad. I would take the rice filled sock and stuff it into the head and wait a few minutes and viola vinyl was like softened butter to root.
So here she is Little Adriana aka Lilly Sculpt: I decided to make her a little older than a newborn and think she does look a little better. I think she makes a nice little 4 month old just starting to sit up.
All of her little outfits except her pink striped onsie is made by me.
The first picture is before the makeover. You will see the little foot that is up, on the heal where the paint is peeling. This was happening to fingertips, toes and heals.
